The UK’s Premier Live Northern Soul Show Heading to Liverpool as Youth
Movement Sparks Genre Resurgence
LIVERPOOL, Merseyside – Soul fans in one of the UK's greatest music cities are set for
an unforgettable night as the premier Northern Soul band, The Signatures, brings their
electrifying live show to Hangar 34 on Saturday 18th July 2026.
The ten-piece powerhouse band is stepping squarely into the spotlight, fronted by the
powerful lead vocals of Freddy Gillmore, to deliver an evening of rare soul floor-fillers
and beloved anthems in the heart of Liverpool.
The tour comes at a time of massive national resurgence for the underground 1970s
dance scene. Aided by the recent release of the documentary Northern Soul: Still
Burning, the movement is experiencing an influx of younger fans. A completely new
generation of youth interest has taken over the dancefloors, trading modern clubbing
for the choreography, classic style and timeless vinyl beats of original soul culture,
making Northern Soul the subculture to watch this year. With frontman Freddy being
just 24 years old, The Signatures are embracing this change to the scene with open
arms.
The evening promises an authentic Northern Soul experience. The Signatures are
widely regarded as the UK’s most authentic Northern Soul live show, having previously
served as the house band for the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6 Music.
The band has backed many of the genre's original legends, including Tommy Hunt,
Bobby Wilson, Dean Parrish, Sidney Barnes, Gloria Jones, and Eddie Holman.
