HONEY I'M HOME share new single 'Alive'
EU tour dates with Hotline TNT upcoming
Dutch newcomers Honey I’m Home are today sharing new single ‘Alive', a thrilling reintroduction to their own buoyant, head-in-the-clouds sonics. Merging 90’s alternative rock with shoegaze, lo-fi indie and emo, the band's sound is one of instinctual, but inventive twists and turns, seamlessly shifting from intimate moments to explosive climaxes, blending layered guitars with deeply personal lyrics.
Honey I'm Home – completed by Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat – release 'Alive' as they prepare to hit stages at the Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial festivals, before heading out on a full European tour in support of Hotline TNT.
Produced by Honey I'm Home and mixed by Sonny Diperri (Julie, DIIV, Protomartyr, Glixen), 'Alive' wanders through lo-fi indie beginnings, and brooding cello passages, before bursting into vivid technicolour shoegaze, as blankets of distorted guitars rip through its heart. “This is not a call for help, it’s a scream”, go the opening lyrics of a song that tries to find positives in situations that seemingly don’t have a light at the end of the tunnel.
Vocalist Sofie Ooteman comments on the song: 'Alive is a song about living with chronic pain and being let down by the medical system. The feeling of screaming for help but only being pushed down deeper into the black hole of eternal suffering." This song is so personal that Sofie refuses to elaborate further: “have a f0okin listen and figure it out for yourself, fork 0ff and leave me alone!!11!!!1!!1”
