Hot Chip, formed in London in 2000 by Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard after earlier acoustic collaborations, quickly evolved into an electronic group and released early EPs before signing to Moshi Moshi in 2003, where they solidified their lineup with Owen Clarke, Felix Martin, and Al Doyle and released their debut album Coming On Strong (2004).
They went on to achieve major success with a string of albums, including The Warning (2006), Made in the Dark (2008), and One Life Stand (2010), all of which topped the UK Dance Albums chart, while singles like “Ready for the Floor” broke into the UK Top 10.
After signing with Domino in 2012, they released In Our Heads, which was featured in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, followed by Why Make Sense? (2015), A Bath Full of Ecstasy (2019), and a critically praised eighth album in 2022, giving the band five UK Dance Number 1s overall. Marking their 25th anniversary in 2025, Hot Chip announced Joy of Repetition, a greatest hits collection featuring a new track, “Devotion,” alongside classics such as “Ready for the Floor,” “Over and Over,” and “Flutes.”
The album debuted at Number 21 on the UK Albums Chart, and the band celebrated with special shows in London, New York, and Los Angeles, including a London performance at The Troxy supported by Findia, a rising artist produced by Goddard and Doyle, whose soulful, electronic-infused set was warmly received.
Hot Chip’s return to London’s Troxy was less a concert than a celebration. Marking 25 years together, the band filled the East London venue to capacity for the release of Best Of Joy in Repetition, and from the moment they stepped on stage, it was clear the night would be one to remember.
Emerging London artist Findia opened the night and delivered a captivating and soulful opening set offering fans an immersive preview of her evolving sound. With a rich, emotive voice and intricately layered production—co-produced by Joe Goddard and Al Doyle of Hot Chip—she presented tracks from her debut EP Silverlined and teased new material, weaving a performance that felt both intimate and expansive
Opening with the live debut of their new single Devotion, the band were greeted by an audience who already seemed to know every word, turning the fresh track into an instant singalong. The room buzzed with energy as Huarache Lights lit up the dancefloor, followed by a perfectly paced journey through the group’s history. From One Life Stand and Night & Day to Eleanor and Hungry Child, each song landed with force, while classics like Boy from School and Over and Over were met with a roar that shook the Troxy’s walls.
The atmosphere was electric—hands in the air, bodies moving as one, and voices rising to meet every chorus. Hot Chip played with a mix of precision and spontaneity, their years together evident in the ease with which they shifted between pulsating electronics and soulful melodies. The band’s chemistry radiated across the stage, and the audience fed on it, creating a feedback loop of joy and energy that never once dipped.
What made the show unforgettable wasn’t just the music but the sense of togetherness it inspired. Every song carried with it memories and meaning, and the crowd responded with unrestrained enthusiasm, turning the Troxy into a sea of movement, colour, and sound. By the time the encore closed with Someday, a CeCe Rogers cover delivered with warmth and intensity, it felt less like the end of a gig and more like a communal celebration of what Hot Chip has meant to its fans for a quarter of a century.
Hot Chip’s 25th-anniversary show proved that their music isn’t just enduring—it’s alive, evolving, and still capable of uniting a room in pure euphoria.
