THEIR SECOND ALBUM, PRETTY ON THE INTERNET
TO BE RELEASED ON 27TH JUNE
With a little over a month until the release of their sophomore album, The K’s reveal brand new single The Bends (Here We Go Again) via LAB Records. Listen here and watch the official video here.
Returning to their signature guitar driven indie after a recent departure for the more piano and strings led Helen Oh I on their previous release - The Bends (Here We Go Again) in contrast hits straight out of the blocks with undeniable melodic hooks and singer Jamie Boyle’s unmistakable vocals. The subject matter of Jamie’s lyrics have often been autobiographical, reflecting on his life experiences and The Bends (Here We Go Again) is a seamless combination of upbeat, memorable musicality and sincere, honest lyricism. Speaking of the release, Jamie says “Throughout my adolescence, I spent a lot of time in hospital, most of it without any clear answers as to why my health was getting worse. I went through countless tests, scans, and surgeries in an effort to uncover the root of the problem. The pain was often so intense that I had to be given powerful drugs like morphine, which left me feeling completely out of it — dizzy, detached, and often unable to even sit up. The Bends is about that disorienting, overwhelming feeling, and how being around a certain person can evoke that same feeling.”
The track is accompanied by the official video, which will give fans a chance to see the band's more eccentric side. Produced by long-time collaborator of the band Geoff Owens, he said “The band are known for their electric live shows and powerful on-stage chemistry, but this time we wanted to peel that back and reveal a different side to them: their personalities, their humour, and a slightly surreal edge that matched the tone of the track. Visually, I drew inspiration from the bold stylisation of films like A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest—cinema that isn’t afraid to push into the strange, the theatrical, or the provocative. We wanted the video to feel like a visual trip leaning into themes of rebellion, absurdity, and controlled madness, but always with a wink to the audience.
The four-piece, made up of Jamie Boyle (vocals/guitar), Ryan Breslin (guitar), Dexter Baker (bass) and Nathan Peers (drums) are set to release their new album, Pretty On The Internet on 27th June, which is available to pre-order here. The album is produced by Grammy Award winner Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, The Dandy Warhols) and mixed by Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Foals, Nothing But Thieves).
Named after the upcoming sophomore album, the band are currently on the Pretty On The Internet tour and the new single comes after yesterday’s sold out show in London at the iconic venue, The Roundhouse before they wrap up the headline tour with shows in Bristol and Newcastle. After playing SXSW in Texas in March, the band will feature for Rolling Stone Magazine at their ‘Future Of UK Music’ event at SXSW London on June 4th in Hoxton, before kicking off a UK summer of festivals including Neighborhood Festival, TRNSMT, Kendal Calling and Tramlines. The four-piece have also recently announced European Festivals appearances including Spain’s Benicassim, as well as more European shows in September, including Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival and their own Dutch and German dates. Tickets are available here.
As one of the UK’s most exciting new British bands, The K’s built a phenomenal fan base which saw their 2024 debut album I Wonder If The World Knows? reach number 3 in the Official Album Charts, only being kept off the top spot by The Libertines and Beyoncé. The album was the UK’s second biggest debut of 2024 and went Bronze in less than a year since its release. With their energetic live performances, heart on their sleeve lyrics and undeniable musicianship, The K’s are a force to be reckoned with.
