Alabama 3 brought their unique, eclectic, eccentric party vibes to Manchester's icon O2 Ritz.

A cold, wet, and windy night in Manchester didn’t stop an excited crowd of music lovers from huddling into one of the city’s most iconic venues. The buzz and energy were obvious from the start of the night.

Support came from The Jacques, a Bristol-based rock/post-punk band who stormed on stage to deliver a high-energy set. The Jacques combine raw energy with strong melodic tones. They were a solid start to the night, lifting the atmosphere and providing a tight, energetic performance.

DJ Bex Hilton stepped on stage between bands to give the waiting crowd some fun tunes. A mix of classic dance tracks, 90s indie favourites such as The Stone Roses and Fun Lovin’ Criminals, and a few soul classics kept the punters happy until the main act took centre stage.

Alabama 3 burst on stage ready for a party. Larry Love and Devlin, both dressed head-to-toe in sparkles, delivered quality vocals, engaging with the crowd and belting out the classics.

In a nod to Manchester, Larry dedicated the whole set to Mani from The Stone Roses, which was met with a rapturous reception.

The band are probably best known for Woke Up This Morning, the theme to The Sopranos. “We know you’re all here for this,” Larry joked, “so we’re doing it early so you have to stay and enjoy the rest of the set.”

The famous sprung dancefloor of The Ritz was bouncing all night, with the crowd singing along, hugging each other, and smiling all around. It was such a feel-good evening—the set flew by even though it was jam-packed. There were serious moments and a few political nods, but nothing that dampened the mood. Near the end of the set, the support band joined Alabama 3 on stage for a chaotic but extremely fun couple of songs that went down very well.

Alabama 3 have it all, and they definitely make sweet country, rock, acid-house music
