Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie (they/them) returns with new single ‘So What?’, out now via Giant Music.
‘So What?’ marks the start of a bold new creative chapter and is the second release from their forthcoming EP ‘You Like Ugly, Don’t You Babe’, out 9th September via Giant Music. Pre-save here.
‘So What?’ sees Blair embrace a more expansive, upbeat sound while retaining their signature emotional honesty and lyrical vulnerability. Built around an infectious sense of release, the track captures the moment of choosing love when everything says walk away.
Speaking on the track, Blair Davie says “'So What?’ Is about falling in love against all odds. When it feels like the whole universe is telling you to run but instead you plant your feet and let love hit you. Even when it’s terrifying, even when you feel undeserving, even when your star signs suggests you’d be better as enemies than lovers…say ‘So What?’ And dive in anyway. It’s a feeling that can apply to anything, of choosing to take action despite the fear.”
Following recent single ‘When You Fall In Love’, which explored healing and connection across past and future selves, ‘So What?’ shifts the energy forward, more immediate, euphoric and defiant. Together, the two tracks set the tone for Blair’s upcoming EP, titled ‘You Like Ugly, Don’t You Babe’. Expanding into a more rhythm-led sound while continuing to explore themes of love, identity, resilience and transformation.
Blair Davie has quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s most compelling emerging voices, known for their rare vocal tone and emotionally direct songwriting. Their work sits alongside artists such as Alex Warren, Dermot Kennedy, Tom Odell and Lewis Capaldi, balancing intimacy with widescreen, anthemic impact.
Previous releases include the acclaimed EP ‘First And Last’, featuring standout tracks ‘Crashing the Car’, ‘Wouldn’t Be Right’ and ‘Butterflies’. The project earned critical support from The Telegraph, Clash, Wonderland and Official Charts.
Live highlights include support slots for James Arthur at The O2 London and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, as well as performances at SXSW and The Great Escape. Blair will also headline sold-out UK shows this May.
After introducing themselves with a flurry of exciting singles, the London-based Scottish born and raised singer-songwriter has been tipped as one of the most anticipated new artists on the rise right now. A seasoned performer, they have been writing music and fronting bands since they were a teenager. Blair’s rise can be pinpointed to the honesty and strength of their songwriting, as well as having one of those rare voices that has the power to speak to our very souls. This talent has not gone unnoticed, with them receiving Amazon Music’s UK Rising Star Award, alongside an Ivor Novello Award nomination, at aged just 23.
Blair has amassed 40K followers (across Instagram and TikTok), been officially playlisted on Spotify, toured the UK and Europe with the likes of JP Cooper, Emile Sande, Sam Fischer and Fatherson, played Great Escape, Live at Leeds, Belladrum and Sziget festivals, was the face of Zermatt Unplugged festival and sold out both London’s Laylow and Slaughtered Lamb.
