Derbyshire rockers These Wicked Rivers will take their electric gospel of ‘peace, love, and lampshades’ to historic churches across the UK this June supported by Brighton band Creeping Jean and The Virginmarys.

These Wicked Rivers frontman John Hartwell enthuses:

“We take great pride in making our shows an evening to remember from the moment doors open until the final curtain call. It therefore gives us great pleasure to welcome two of the best bands on the scene to The Churches Tour - these shows just got even more special. Bringing the peace and love to Galashiels will be the phenomenal power duo The Virginmarys who are making waves all across the UK and Europe right now, and for the remaining dates we’ll be amping up the vintage vibes with magnificent retro-rockers Creeping Jean along for the ride.”

Rod Bourganos, guitarist of Creeping Jean: “We're blessed to join These Wicked Rivers for their Churches tour! It'll be a holy experience to preach the gospel of Rock music inside actual temples”

The shows are selling fast and have already sold out in St. Peter’s Church, Belper, Derbyshire (a particularly meaningful stop for the band), “Every tour, we make sure to play a show that connects to home. Belper is where our heart beats, where we rehearse, and where we load up the bandwagon,” explains Arran. “Playing St. Peter’s feels like the perfect way to celebrate with our Rivers family.”

Taking inspiration from a Galashiels show with Hayseed Dixie in 2022. Guitarist Arran Day recalls, “We were immediately blown away by the magic of playing rock and roll in a church—the acoustics, the atmosphere, and the warmth of the people inside. That experience sparked the idea for this tour: to bring people together from all walks of life for an evening that feels truly special and entirely ours.”

He continues: “I first saw Creeping Jean last year when they were out on the road with Rival Sons and felt instantly connected to that rock and roll swagger, positivity and light - we can't wait to testify together this June!”

Rod Bourganos guitarist of Creeping Jean adds: “I had the sacred experience of playing some churches in the past, including the St. Stephen's Church in Ipswich which is on this tour itinerary. It's an indescribable feeling of acoustic wonder and communion with the audience to play buildings that were specifically built to access higher dimensions.”

Creeping Jean will release a new double A-side 7inch for Record Store Day this April including latest single “Spice Rack” plus another new track, the aptly titled “God Bless Honking Clover” which is available to pre-save HERE

They took an unconventional approach for this release, capturing the raw energy of their music inside the very shop that has helped fund their journey. Recorded on a rainy Sunday in November, shoppers stopped to watch through the window display or danced in the street as the band tore through the two blistering new tracks.

Frontman Oliver Tooze explains: “The shop has been the backbone of everything we’ve done, so recording inside it just felt right. We shut up shop, crammed inside with all the jeans, leather jackets, and belts, and went for it. It was chaotic but perfect.”

The band will also play a few headline shows to support their Record Store Day release this April.

These Wicked Rivers released their latest album “Force of Nature” last year including the singles

The band are currently gearing up for a European tour this April with blues-rock veterans King King, taking them across the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark for the first time. Their tireless drive to spread the spirit of rock and roll has seen them play to sold-out crowds across the UK and Europe, fueled by their devoted Rivers Family fanbase.
