SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘DEAD MAN’S DOG’

DEBUT EP AIMING TORCHES AT THE SUN OUT THIS FRIDAY

PLAYS THE GREAT ESCAPE & HEADLINE TOUR CONFIRMED FOR JUNE

Dermot Henry shares his latest single ‘Dead Man’s Dog’, which heralds the imminent arrival of debut EP Aiming Torches At The Sun - out this Friday May 15th via Adventure Recordings / Island Records UK.

Capturing the disorienting shift out of adolescence, ‘Dead Man’s Dog’ sees the 23-year-old songwriter reflect on the strange emotional terrain of growing up. “I’m in a stage of my life where I’m transitioning into adulthood, and that’s at the heart of most of the songs,” Dermot Henry explains. “Having love and friendship whilst becoming an adult is the only real thing to hold onto. Some of my favourite songs are about turning 22, so it felt important to explore how it made me feel.”

Building a reputation as a compelling live performer, Dermot Henry plays multiple sets at The Great Escape this week, including a slot on the BBC Radio 6 Music stage hosted by Huw Stephens on May 14th alongside appearances at Fabrica (Friday, 8:15 pm) and more.

Fresh from supporting Jacob Alon at the Roundhouse and his own, instant sell-out headline date at Hoxton’s Folklore, Dermot Henry has also announced a run of headline shows this June, taking in shows at London’s Courtyard Theatre, Bristol’s Exchange, and Manchester’s Deaf Institute. Tickets are on sale now, with full routing and summer festivals also outlined below.

Recorded in Frome with Dom Monks (Big Thief, Michael Kiwanuka, Laura Marling), Aiming Torches At The Sun is a project that sounds instinctive, intimate, and lived-in. The EP was introduced last month by double A-side ‘My Favourite Book Is One I’ve Read A Bunch / Little Rib’: released to widespread acclaim, Dermot landed support across BBC Radio 6 Music, Apple Music 1, BBC Introducing and artist co-signs ranging from Lewis Capaldi and Sabrina Carpenterto Lola Young and Lizzy McAlpine. With songwriting that balances youthful charm and a quietly world-wise perspective, his debut EP introduces Dermot Henry as a vital new voice.
