EDWARD BARTON

ANNOUNCES ‘OUT OF THE HOUSE WITH EDWARD’ HOMETOWN SHOW

@ THE YARD, MANCHESTER

- THURSDAY 11 DECEMBER -

Presenting a unique evening of music, collaboration, and festive cheer - Edward Barton - invites you to ‘Out of the House With Edward’ at The Yard this December.

A hometown show for the poet, songwriter, and cult Manchester figure, the night will see Barton premiering his new project ‘Your Song, My Song’, featuring live co-written performances.

Edward Barton is a Manchester-born polymath: inventor, poet, songwriter, and artist. Writing the seminal track “It’s a Fine Day” (later a hit for Opus 3 and remixed by Skrillex), amongst his other numerous musical achievements he co-wrote Kylie Minogue’s “Confide in Me” and has collaborated with artists including Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, and A Guy Called Gerald. A regular on TV show ‘The Tube’, his eccentric performances often became cult moments. Elsewhere, he has supported bands like James and Microdisney, played guitar for Tears for Fears, and was dubbed the “trance laureate” of the 1990s. Beyond music, Edward is known for rescuing over 600 teddy bears, patenting a knitted radiator cover and inventing the half-and-half football shirt (yes really). Edward’s art once led to his arrest for the installation ‘Stolen’, earning him tabloid infamy as “Manchester’s own Leonardo Da Pinchi”. His dog Percy’s humorous photo book also became a bestseller.

To this day, Edward continues to write for Manchester bands HANN and Bbird With Two B’s.

At his upcoming show at The Yard on 5 December, Barton will be joined for the occasion by Bbird With Two B’s, plus Jane, and special guests; with Jane confirmed to be performing ‘It’s a Fine Day’ a cappella for the first time since 1982 at the show.

The event will be the first for rising promoters Later@ at The Yard in Cheetham Hill, Manchester and also launches later@’s campaign Book Early, Keep It Live – supporting grassroots artists and independent venues by encouraging audiences to secure tickets in advance.
