Liverpool’s landmark summer concert series, On the Waterfront, is set to return to the city’s iconic Pier Head for its fifth edition this summer, bringing a world-class line-up to one of the UK’s most spectacular live music settings.
Running from Thursday 18 June to Sunday 21 June 2026, the four-day event will once again transform the city’s historic waterfront into an open-air celebration of live music, framed by the River Mersey and Liverpool’s famous Three Graces. Since launching in 2021, the festival has become a staple of the UK’s live music calendar, attracting thousands of music fans annually and cementing Liverpool’s reputation as one of Britain’s great music cities.
This year’s line-up combines legendary artists, contemporary favourites and Liverpool talent, with headline performances from Paul Weller, Snow Patrol, and hometown heroes Red Rum Club. The festival will also host a special “10 Years of Cream Classical” celebration featuring the 50-piece Kaleidoscope Orchestra alongside iconic dance vocalists including Alison Limerick, Julie McKnight, Robin S and Saffron.
Paul Weller Opens the Festival in Style
Kicking off the festival on Thursday night is Paul Weller, one of the most influential figures in British music. Often referred to as “The Modfather”, Weller first rose to fame with The Jam before going on to achieve major success with The Style Council and his acclaimed solo career.
Known for timeless tracks including You Do Something To Me, Wild Wood and That’s Entertainment, Weller’s performances continue to draw generations of fans. His appearance at Pier Head is expected to deliver a mix of classic hits and material from his more recent releases, making it one of the most anticipated nights of the weekend.
Red Rum Club Bring Liverpool Energy to the Waterfront
Friday belongs to Red Rum Club, the fast-rising Liverpool six-piece whose blend of indie rock, mariachi-inspired trumpet hooks and anthemic songwriting has earned them a devoted following across the UK.
The band have become synonymous with Liverpool’s modern music scene, selling out major venues and building momentum with albums including How to Steal the World. Their hometown headline slot at On the Waterfront marks a major milestone for the group and is expected to create one of the festival’s most electric atmospheres.
Cream Classical Celebrates a Decade
Saturday sees the return of Cream Classical, celebrating 10 years since the hugely successful fusion of club culture and orchestral performance first launched.
The special anniversary event will feature the renowned Kaleidoscope Orchestra performing classic Cream and dance anthems alongside live vocal performances from house music legends Alison Limerick, Julie McKnight, Robin S and Saffron of N-Joi fame. DJs and dance music pioneers including Todd Terry, Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul, K-Klass and Chicane are also set to appear across the day.
Cream remains one of Liverpool’s most important musical exports, and the Cream Classical show promises a celebration of the city’s globally recognised dance music heritage against the dramatic backdrop of the waterfront.
Snow Patrol Close the Weekend
Closing the festival on Sunday night are Snow Patrol, marking the band’s first Liverpool performance in more than a decade.
The alternative rock favourites, fronted by Gary Lightbody, became one of the defining bands of the 2000s with emotionally charged hits including Chasing Cars, Run and Open Your Eyes. Their appearance at On the Waterfront is expected to draw fans from across the UK, with the band promising a huge singalong finale to the weekend. Liverpool indie-rock outfit Circa Waves will also join the bill on the closing night.
A Unique Setting for Live Music
Few festivals in the UK can rival the backdrop offered by Liverpool’s Pier Head. Surrounded by the historic Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building, the waterfront setting has become central to the event’s identity.
Organisers say the 2026 edition will continue to celebrate Liverpool’s musical heartbeat, blending international stars with local talent in a city renowned worldwide for its cultural and musical influence.
With a world-class line-up, iconic location and growing reputation, On the Waterfront 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest live music events of the summer.
