“Blueprint” is the new single and video from Simone White.
For her latest act, White conjures a curious baroque-pop composition that is as engaging as it is enigmatic.
Reminiscent of complex, non-linear outings of Laurie Andersen, Agnes Obel, or Aldous Harding “Blueprint” finds White's gossamer vocal enveloped by dancing string arrangements by neoclassical minimalist composer Brent Arnold.
A song that asks as many questions as it ever gives answers, “Blueprint” deconstructs urban settings familiar to all of us and unravels their existential mechanics, line by line.
“How much do you think it weighs? Is it possible to learn from within the maze?” she wonders here.
The single is accompanied by an official video, which is directed by Mark Benjamin. Layered, gliding and hypnotic, it lulls the viewer into a thoughtful reverie. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/_JxgysGVwEw
“Blueprint” is taken from Simone White’s forthcoming album ‘Letter To The Last Generation’, available on CD + Digitally on 1st May 2026 (via Ghost Palace / Cargo).
Something of a lost album, ‘Letter To The Last Generation’ has floated around the internet for some years. Lost in the twilight period of those first few weeks of the pandemic as the world readjusted to a new era, the album received an extremely limited vinyl release, before disappearing into the ether.
With the majority of its tracks written and recorded in the weeks before White made a major move from LA to NYC, ‘Letter to the Last Generation’ feels like a collage from an artist in a restless, transitory state.
Initially invited into the studio by producer Pete Min to record a song they had co-written with Jebin Bruni, almost immediately White felt she’d made a good decision. Greeted to a set-up that included Jebin on synths, Abe Rounds on drums, and Kaveh Rastegar on bass, the collective set off a creative spark in White, and they began to put into motion what would become ‘Letter to the Last Generation’.
"The vibe with the band that day was so inspiring, I felt excited about making another record, something I’d been putting off for years.” says White.
“It’s an album that feels to me like a transformation of heartache, darkness and doubt into hope. The sound that came out of working with Pete and the great musicians he gathered paired with all my preoccupations and weltschmerz seems to give it the feeling of a concept album and the songs that were personal when I wrote them took on a celestial quality, as if existing in some futuristic story.”
Featuring the majestic “Tiny Drop” (featuring Andrew Bird on violin), the track, phenomenally, was premiered at UN World Environment Day and has attracted over 2.5 million Spotify streams. Among its other 12 tracks are the woozy “This Is All You Felt”, to the reverby Radiohead-like “So It Goes”, to the lullaby-like “Rain”; the album also features a cover of Bessie Smith's blues classic "Backwater Blues", hallmarked with White’s signature stylistics.
Adorned with string arrangements, synths, piano, and fingerpicked guitar, it’s a record that showcases White’s deft songwriting abilities and diversity of range.
With all of its tracks remastered, rearranged with a new order, with two additional bonus tracks (originally released on the limited vinyl release), plus two acoustic track replacements; ‘Letter To The Last Generation’ will receive an official release on CD and digital on 1st May 2026 via Ghost Palace Records and Cargo. The four panel CD will also feature the original space themed single artwork by Alex Mata.
Of the upcoming release, White says:
“It always felt like a bit of a forgotten album of mine so I was excited when Ghost Palace Records and Cargo offered to re-release it to coincide with my upcoming European / UK tour. I'm committed to supporting small businesses and the types of venues which contribute to the collective soul and authenticity of a thriving live music scene. The CD will only be available at my live shows and at independent records stores (no Amazon).”
Reconfigured and realised in the way the artist had always intended, the 2026 release of ‘Letter To The Last Generation’ creates a journey that spans from the simple to the sublime to the simple again. A worthy reply, to a letter that almost got lost in the mail.
Watch out for a further upcoming EP from White this Spring: ‘Hold On’. Due for release in tandem with her European tour dates this March, the four-track acoustic EP will feature an acoustic version of her recent single “Semaphores”, plus “Look Up”, “Devil”, and “The Radiance”.
With charging drums, snaky guitars from Terry de Castro (The Wedding Present, Goya Dress) hip-cocked towards the 90s and psychedelic synths (Jebin Bruni, Will Thomas), her recent single, and first for five years, “Semaphores" is out now. A cri de coeur, an explosive call to lay down arms, “Semaphores” is also accompanied by a kaleidoscopic video courtesy of Lyman Hardy. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/D4fEGlh5T64?si=eR0E6WoZTthkxvSN
The ‘Hold On’ EP will be released digitally and as a cassette, available on bandcamp and at her live dates - available from March.
