Having sold out in record time on its first announcement, Swervedriver, the highly regarded Creation Records indie-psych legends, have added a second date to satisfy demand and will now play the London Village Underground on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October. Tickets for the newly added performance on Friday 23rd go on general sale Friday May 1st at 10am. Sign up for Wednesday’s presale on the button HERE.
“London! Just getting over the buzz of our show selling out in two hours and now we’re excited to announce that Village Underground has added an extra night for those that missedout first-time round,” says singer and guitarist Adam Franklin. “Leeds, thank you for selling out too!”
These two London performances join further gigs in Bristol, Oxford, Leeds and Glasgow and under the banner ‘Raise At 35’, see Swervedriver celebrating the release of their iconic debut album ‘Raise’, where the band will be performing the album in its entirety, among other gems from their back catalogue.
Originally released on Creation Records in 1991, Raise’ quickly became a defining sound of early 90s underground alternative rock. Energised and inspired by the guitar heavy sounds of My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr, Husker Du and the like, Swervedriver perfected their own shimmering, guitar-clashing juggernaut with a uniquely British flavour firmly intact, with Melody Maker calling ‘Raise’ one of the “truly great albums of the year.”
A new reissue of ‘Raise’ will arrive in September on CD and limited coloured vinyl etc, full details to be announced…
The tour will commemorate the start of Swervedriver’s long career, bringing back into focus the huge influence they continue to have on contemporary dream pop, indie-psych bands. With their initial run of four albums between ’91 and ’98, and then their return in 2015 with ‘I Wasn’t Born To Lose You’ and 2019’s ‘Future Ruins’, Swervedriver proved themselves to be a band with plenty of gas left in the tank, continuing to make fresh music that easily matched their past creativity.
