MAGNETIC SKIES
CRAVE CONNECTION ON BRAND NEW SINGLE
‘BACK TO LIFE’ - OUT 25TH JULY
CATCH THE BAND LIVE THIS NOVEMBER
Synthpop collective Magnetic Skies reignite their electrifying return with latest single ‘Back To Life’ out 25th July.
Building on the momentum of their spring release ‘A Place on Earth’ - the first track since 2023’s acclaimed debut album, the band are back to unveil ‘Back To Life’; a powerful evolution which blends their signature synths, darkwave textures, and euphoric beats to marry raw energy with emotional depth. Equal parts nostalgic and modern, this is synthpop with soul, wrapped in melancholy that resonates deeply as frontman Simon Kent sings “We are made of stars / we are meteor showers / losing all control / empty out the soul.” This is a song that unpacks a world that feels increasingly disconnected, and dares to offer a lifeline…
“‘Back To Life’ explores the tension between our deep, universal connection and the fragmentation we face in the modern world,” Kent explains. “It's about sensing that chaos, feeling the void, the noise, and still holding on to the hope that we can come back from the edge. It’s a call to reconnect, to bring something broken back into wholeness.”
Bio:
Initially setting out as a duo in 2019, Magnetic Skies was born as a studio-based project created by lead vocalist and keys player Simon Kent and Jo Womar also on keys, driven by a shared love of 80s synth-driven post-punk. They began building their sound and continually released EPs throughout 2020, using pulsing, vintage analogue synths and pumping bass to create a signature sound of evocative electronica mixed with darkwave. Eventually, the band created their long awaited full-length release Empire Falling, released in late 2023 with production and mixing on the album predominantly carried out in-house by Kent, alongside additional mixing duties performed by Rob Aubrey (engineer for Sex Pistols/Big Big Train/Asia).
With their 2023 single releases, Magnetic Skies gained support from the likes of Louder Than War, God is In The TV, When The Horn Blows, and Backseat Mafia among many others, and the debut album received praise from Electronic Sound, Classic Pop, Computer Music, MusicRadar and Blitzed Magazine. The band have opened sold-out shows for the likes of Altered Images, Heaven 17, Empathy Test and Then Jerico over the years. Now with a UK tour confirmed for November and more new music on the horizon, make sure to watch this space…
