CAMERON WHITCOMB ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM THE HARD WAY
WITH NEW SINGLE “FRAGILE” OUT NOW
BIGGEST LIVE RUN CURRENTLY UNDERWAY WITH TOP-BILLED FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES AND SOLD-OUT HEADLINE SHOWS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA, EUROPE, AND THE UK
THE HARD WAY ARRIVES VIA ATLANTIC RECORDS ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb has announced the release of his hugely anticipated debut album, The Hard Way, arriving on Friday, September 26 via Atlantic Records. Pre-orders/pre-saves are available now HERE.
The Hard Way sees Whitcomb offering up a deeply personal look at his turbulent journey, from his struggles with addiction at a young age through to his recovery and adulthood. The album is heralded by today’s premiere of the vulnerable new single, “Fragile,” available everywhere now HERE. Produced by frequent collaborator Jack Riley (Grace VanderWaal, Knox) and co-written by Whitcomb, Riley, Nolan Sipe, and Cal Shapiro (co-writer of Alex Warren’s #1 hit single, “Ordinary”), the tender track explores the universal hope of finding a partner who can love you in spite of your past and any trauma you've endured.
Cameron is celebrating the impending arrival of The Hard Way with his biggest live run thus far, continuing tonight with a top-billed home country performance at Oro-Medonte, ON’s Boots and Hearts Music Festival. Whitcomb will then cross the Atlantic for the long awaited EU/UK leg of his hugely successful Hundred Mile High Tour, featuring sold-out shows across Europe and the United Kingdom through early September. Upon his return, Whitcomb will embark on his I’ve Got Options Tour, beginning September 26 at Portland, OR’s Wonder Ballroom and then traveling the US through mid-November. Most dates are already completely sold out, including an eagerly awaited two-night stand at West Hollywood, CA’s historic Troubadour (October 4-5). Due to popular demand, additional shows have been added at Atlanta, GA’s Terminal West (October 27) and Nashville, TN’s Brooklyn Bowl Nashville (November 9), though tickets are extremely limited. Support on select dates comes from Danielle Finn, Jonah Kagen, and Tayler Holder. For complete details and remaining ticket availability, please visit thecamwhitcomb.com.
Currently boasting over 6M monthly listeners on Spotify, more than 3M fans across social platforms, and over 400M worldwide streams and counting, Whitcomb is well into what is shaping up as a landmark 2025, including the recent arrival of his fiery new single, “Gasoline & Matches,” available now via Atlantic Records HERE. Produced by frequent collaborator Jack Riley (Knox, Grace VanderWaal) and co-written by Whitcomb, Riley, and singer-songwriter Chance Emerson, the incendiary track reminds us that while you can destroy the physical reminders of a relationship, you can’t burn the memories.
“Gasoline & Matches” follows this spring’s breakout hit single, “Bad Apple,” which debuted as the #2 Most Added track at Alternative Radio outlets nationwide upon release. Produced by Jack Riley and co-written by Whitcomb, Riley, Nolan Sipe, and Cal Shapiro, the track sees Cameron pushing his intensely personal sound in a new alternative direction, employing the age-old metaphor of “one bad apple can spoil the barrel” to grapple with the idea of how things can be so good, yet so bad at the same time. An official live performance video is streaming now at YouTube HERE.
Recently featured globally on the cover of Apple Music’s Today Country and named to both Spotify and Amazon Music’s 2025 Artists To Watch lists as well as Shazam’s Fast Forward 2025, Whitcomb also joined forces with rising indie folk artist Evan Honer for the raw collaborative single, “My Expense“ along with his own emotionally vivid “Options“ and larger-than-life anthem “Hundred Mile High.” The latter earned first-week streams in excess of 1.6M and critical applause from MTV, Entertainment Tonight, UPROXX, Ones To Watch, and ELLE, which named it among “The Best New Songs We Heard In January,” writing, “The return of modern folk was written in the stars… Cameron Whitcomb enters the conversation with ‘Hundred Mile High.’ The banjos pump the song forward, beckoning listeners on a cross-country road trip.”
2025 kicked off with the release of “Medusa (Acoustic),” a new stripped-down rendition of his captivating fan favorite, “Medusa,” available now HERE. Featured as one of Billboard’s “5 Must-Hear New Country Songs,” upon release, the original version of “Medusa“ has quickly amassed over 150M global streams and counting. Whitcomb kept the momentum going throughout the year with a nonstop live schedule performing sold out shows across North America and the Canadian leg selling out over 80% of all tickets during presales before box offices officially opened to the general public. Highlights included sold out two-night stands at Vancouver, BC’s famed Commodore Ballroom, Kelowna, BC’s Revelry, and Edmonton, AB’s Midway Music Hall, a show-stopping festival set at Calgary, AB’s iconic Calgary Stampede, and multiple performances at the annual CMA Fest Presented by SoFi in Nashville, TN.
All this follows a breakthrough 2024 that featured the release of Whitcomb’s remarkable debut EP, Quitter, available everywhere now HERE. Partly inspired by for the fast-rising 21-year-old singer-songwriter’s journey in overcoming addiction, the acclaimed collection includes profoundly personal singles including “Love Myself“ and the soul-searching title track, “Quitter,” the latter of which was praised by Billboard as “an anthemic folk track in the mold of Noah Kahan powered by a kick-clap beat and Whitcomb’s growling vocal.” Now boasting more than 100M global streams, “Quitter” further made history as his first-ever single to reach the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 – his biggest chart success to date which Whitcomb celebrated by traveling North America on his wide-ranging headline Quitter Tour.
One of the most captivating new songwriters of his generation, Cameron Whitcomb turns the most candid details of his real-life experience into songs with a strangely exhilarating power. Hailing from British Columbia’s Vancouver Island, Whitcomb left home at age 17 and got a job working on a pipeline, later spending much of his downtime singing karaoke and posting covers on Reddit. When an American Idol executive took note of his undeniable vocal talent, he landed a spot on the show’s 20th season and emerged as a top 20 finalist. Whitcomb then immersed himself in learning to write songs while deep in the process of getting sober. After making his label debut with 2024’s “Rocking Chair” – which amassed over 40M combined views across socials prior to its premiere – Whitcomb took off on a fast ascent that soon found him embarking on his first-ever headline run, the sold-out Quitter Tour.
