Crystal Tides Release Debut Album 'Toothpaste' Ahead of UK Headline Tour

Crystal Tides Release Debut Album Toothpaste - Out 6th February 2026

Independent Portsmouth Indie Outfit Announce UK Headline Tour for March 2026

After years of relentless touring, writing, and carving out their own path through the UK indie scene, Crystal Tides release their long-awaited debut album Toothpaste on 6th February 2026. A deeply personal, fiercely independent record, Toothpaste captures the band at their most honest, ambitious, and fully realised.

Written over several years and entirely self-funded, Toothpaste is a statement of intent, a record shaped by lived experience, creative freedom, and the refusal to compromise. Across its tracklist, Crystal Tides balance huge indie rock hooks with vulnerability, humour, and raw emotion, reflecting the highs and lows of growing up, chasing dreams, and surviving the pressures of modern life.

“We wanted the focus of this album to showcase our independence as a band. We felt it important, given our journey thus far, that it come from us in as raw form as possible,” the band explain.“The writing began back in 2022, with some voice notes on lead singer Billy’s phone that eventually developed into album tracks. Once the recording of our previous EP ‘The Middle’ was complete, we knew we wanted to do an album next so we got to work straight away.”

Those early ideas grew into full band demos, studio writing sessions, and collaborative moments. With tracks written both collectively and individually, the band slowly shaped a cohesive body of work that felt true to who they are now.

“With the majority written we reached out to producer and friend David Evans, who has been a part of our journey from the beginning so we felt it was important to have him involved,”

Recorded across home studios and Portsmouth University’s upgraded facilities, and refined through months of mixing, revisions, and re-recording, Toothpaste is the sound of a band backing themselves completely. The album takes its name from one of its most personal tracks. The song Toothpaste documents frontman Billy Gregory’s battle with Ulcerative Colitis, following the removal of his large intestine and the profound impact it had on his daily life.

“The album was named ‘Toothpaste’ after a personal track on the album… It felt like such a unique title, a talking point. After a few discussions, it just felt like the only thing it could be called.”

Ultimately, Toothpaste is an album about resilience, identity, and perseverance.

“To say we are proud of what we have created is an understatement. No major label backing, no big investors, just a team of hardworking individuals who refuse to give up on their dreams.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Crystal Tides will embark on their biggest headline tour to date this March, bringing Toothpaste to stages across the UK including Manchester's Gorilla on 27th March and London's Electric Ballroom on 28th March. Tickets are on sale here.
