SHED SEVEN TO PLAY THE BIGGEST HEADLINE SHOW OF THEIR CAREER

Saturday May 29 – York LNER Community Stadium

Shed Seven are set to play the biggest headline show of their career next May in what promises to be a defining moment for the band.

More than 30 years into their career, the landmark show will see the band headline a special hometown show at York’s LNER Community Stadium on Saturday May 29. They will be joined on the night by special guests The Ks, Reverend and the Makers and The Mersey Beatles.

An exclusive Shed Seven artist pre-sale opens at 10am on Tuesday for anyone signed up to the Shed Seven mailing list HERE

Fans wishing to access the artist pre-sale must sign up by 12pm on Monday.

All remaining tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday October 23.

The massive gig follows an extraordinary few years for Shed Seven, which has seen the band achieve two UK Number 1 albums, play some of the biggest shows of their career and be crowned Best Live Act at the AIM Independent Music Awards. It also follows the huge success of their two sold-out shows at York Museum Gardens in 2024.

Now, the band are taking things to another level, with their biggest production to date and a huge career-spanning set planned for York.

And with the LNER Community Stadium just a stone’s throw from the village of Huntington, where the band met, went to school and where the Shed Seven story first began more than three decades ago, frontman Rick Witter says the location just heightens what will be a very special night.

Rick said: “Our ambition, even as school kids, was to one day play our own stadium show. What kid who dreams of being in a rock ’n’ roll band doesn’t want to do that? Now… almost 40 years later, we’ve reached the point where we thought… it’s now or never. And if we were going to do it, it had to be York.

“What will make it even more special is that the stadium is a stone’s throw from where we met, went to school and where we first formed a band. We’re coming back to pretty much where it all began to play the biggest show of our career and that is a proper full-circle moment.

“The York Museum Gardens shows in 2024 were incredible…and to see Shed Seven fans travelling from all over the country to our hometown was amazing. Our fanbase has been incredibly loyal to us and they’re the reason we’re even in a position to attempt something like this. We really hope they’ll travel from all over again, make a weekend of it and let us welcome them to our wonderful home.

“Expect a huge career-spanning set and for us to push the production further than we ever have before. If we’re going to do it, we want to do it properly and make this the biggest and best Shed Seven show we’ve ever put on.”

To mark the landmark show, Shed Seven will also release a special York Edition of their forthcoming self-titled album. Featuring unique artwork created especially for the release, the limited edition will include live versions of fan favourites Let’s Go Dancing, Talk of the Town and Chasing Rainbows.

Chasing Rainbows has a particularly special connection with the city, having become a regular terrace chant among York City supporters. Continuing the hometown theme, £1 from every York Edition CD sold will be donated to York City Foundation, supporting its work with communities across York.

Special guests at the LNER will be The Ks. The explosive Earlestown four-piece are riding the crest of a massive wave that has been building over the last few years. Their debut album I Wonder If The World Knows reached Number 3 on the UK album charts in April 2024 and its follow up Pretty On The Internet bagged the band their first Number 1 just 14 months later.

An incredible live band, The K’s headlined two massive sold out shows this summer at The Piece Hall, Halifax, and Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl.

Sheffield’s Reverend and the Makers continual evolution has seen them cut across the creative spectrum and across many genres. Their brilliant seventh studio album, Heatwave In The Cold North was the band’s first Top 10 album since their debut The State of Things which gave the world such anthems as Heavyweight Champion of the World, He Said He Loved Me and Open The Window.

Opening the show are The Mersey Beatles. The globally-acclaimed Liverpool tribute to the Fab Four were resident at the world-famous Cavern Club for more than a decade and have toured the world many times over the past 25 years.

Shed Seven are also keen to use the occasion to support York’s next generation of musicians, with a fan zone stage ahead of the main stadium show featuring up-and-coming artists from the city.

The stadium announcement comes as Shed Seven prepare to embark on their biggest UK winter tour to date, Shedcember X, ahead of the release of their seventh studio album, the self-titled Shed Seven, on January 8. The album’s lead single, Stand Together, has already received major national radio support, including BBC Radio 2.

Shed Seven’s remarkable resurgence has also seen the band perform in the BBC Radio 2 Piano Room backed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, make a triumphant return to Glastonbury and playing a series of major outdoor shows among the biggest of their career.

More than three decades after a group of school friends first came together in Huntington, Shed Seven will return to the same part of York for the biggest show of their career.
