DEVOUR EP OUT OCT 31ST

ON POLYDOR RECORDS

4 DATE UK TOUR STARTS THIS WEEK

ETTA MARCUS returns with her electrifying new EP, Devour, a bold and visceral body of work set for release on October 31st via Polydor Records. The five-track collection marks a thrilling new era for the 24-year-old South London artist, cementing her as one of the most compelling and fearless new voices in British music.

Written with long-time collaborator Josh Scarbrow, Devour sees Marcus channelling a sharper edge and emotional rawness than ever before. The EP follows her widely acclaimed 2024 mini-album The Death of Summer & Other Promises and recent single “Wolf River”, a haunting tribute to Jeff Buckley. Together, these releases trace the evolution of an artist unafraid to confront both the beauty and brutality of growing up.

Speaking about the new EP, Etta says:

“Devour feels like a coming-of-age moment in its truest sense. It harnesses anger as an energy but makes space for love.”

Etta began writing Devour during a series of winter trips to Whitstable, where the stark coastal landscape became a fitting backdrop for the EP’s emotional intensity. The songs pull from a palette of influences that range from Nirvana and Radiohead to PJ Harvey and Fontaines D.C., bringing a punk-inflected rawness to her already cinematic storytelling. The result is an unflinching exploration of identity, power, and release, a record that devours and is devoured in equal measure.

Leading the charge is the EP’s first single, “Girls Are God’s Machines” — a forthright and ferocious anthem that captures Marcus at her most unapologetic. “It really surprised me when I wrote it,” she says. “I wouldn’t say I’m normally an angry person, but it turns out, in the last year, I was. There were a lot of experiences I’d had as a woman of feeling like I wasn’t being listened to. This is the female experience — and I don’t want to settle for it.”

Having grown up in Brixton and trained in jazz before breaking free from the confines of conservatoire perfectionism, Marcus has steadily built a reputation for her emotionally charged songwriting and commanding stage presence. Her earlier releases from the aching intimacy of “Theatre” to the tactile reflection of “Fruit Flies” showcased a writer capable of balancing vulnerability with bite. On Devour, she takes that instinct and runs with it, tearing down walls and stepping fully into her power.

With its heady mix of catharsis, fury, and grace, Devour captures Etta Marcus at a pivotal moment, an artist fully coming into her own, ready to claim the space she deserves.

Etta will be playing the following shows:

24th Oct Leeds, Hyde Park Book Club

25th Oct Manchester, Deaf Institute - The Lodge

26th Oct Bristol, Rough Trade

30th Oct London, Hoxton Hall
