Ahead of a 9-date North American tour that begins next week in Montreal, Ezra Furman shares a new standalone single titled “One Hand Free”. Taken from the same studio sessions as Goodbye Small Head, her tenth album released earlier this year, the single is vintage Furman. We wanted to call it “another anthemic earworm,” but when Ezra read that she demanded we substitute the phrase “another loser-core kill-shot.” Either way, “One Hand Free” comes accompanied by a video shot by JJ Gonson featuring Ezra accompanied by an assortment of birds, lizards and myriad other species.
Commenting on the track Ezra Furman says: “This is a jaunty back-porch breakup/depression song about feeling so bad you’re not sure what species you even belong to anymore. We left it off Goodbye Small Head because it was too good. It’s better than Jason Aldean. Better than the Barbie movie. Better than Bob Dylan. Better than Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Cue the sound of one hand clapping, a Zen round of applause.”
Ezra Furman and band return to the UK & Europe early next year for a run of 14 shows ending at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 4th February. Upcoming live dates below:

Ezra Furman is a boundary-breaking artist whose fearless creativity and emotional honesty have made her one of the most compelling voices in modern music. Blending punk energy, heartfelt lyricism and genre-defying innovation, Furman’s work is both deeply personal and universally resonant. The albums she’s released over the past decade demonstrate both her extraordinary talent and artistic evolution. Perpetual Motion People (2015) is a vibrant, genre-hopping explosion of wit and melody, while Transangelic Exodus (2018) pushed boundaries with its dystopian storytelling and atmospheric soundscapes, exploring themes of love, defiance, and identity. Twelve Nudes (2019) delivered raw, punk-fueled catharsis, channeling anger and resilience into fiery anthems. Her last album, All of Us Flames (2022), is a cinematic and deeply moving exploration of queer liberation, weaving intimate storytelling with grand, sweeping arrangements. She also found time to record the soundtrack for the Netflix smash hit TV series Sex Education. Ezra Furman’s music is a testament to the power of individuality and authenticity, marking her as a truly unique voice in modern music.
