PARIS-BASED MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST
MAX BABY RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘FEET’
OUT NOW ON ANIMAL63
Fresh from the moody allure of his recent single ‘I Can Do Anything’, Paris-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter Max Baby returns with his intoxicating new track ‘Feet’. Driven by off-kilter grooves, hazy guitar tones, a warm, pulsing bassline, and sparse synths, ‘Feet’ finds the self-taught artist venturing further into the fringes of alternative music. Written about obsession, surrender, and the intoxicating space where pain and pleasure blur, it’s a sensory onslaught delivered with open arms. Listen and watch the official video directed by Julie Reali via the links below:
In his words, Max Baby explains,“‘Feet is about chasing a limit and not realising you’ve long since crossed it - getting high off the tension, finding intensity in a connection that leaves you in awe or submission. It’s about rejecting boundaries, living raw, authentic, a little fucked - even if it hurts.
There’s this pull toward something deeper, both in yourself and the other person. “I got beneath your core / Don’t you too wanna find mine?” It’s invasive and intimate. Almost dangerous.
Sonically, it’s minimal and bass-heavy, gasping for air in the verses, before a sudden build flips into something softer and more colourful - tension and release spilling out into a ridiculous, rainbow-gooey, fireworks guitar solo.
“Bathed in red / Still, at your feet / I’ve never felt so alive.” Beautiful contradiction: bleeding out, yet somehow glowing.”
Mixed and mastered in Paris by Marcus Linon, 'Feet' was completed at Greasy Studios, Max’s creative home. Once the recording space of cult French prog-rock band Magma, the studio still holds a strange, magnetic energy. It’s where Max writes, records and produces most of his music.
With an instinctive ear and a creative drive that spans instruments, disciplines, and genres, Max Baby was always destined to be a musician. Baby is his real surname, passed down through three generations from the children of a WWI captain who were adopted into the family. Born near Bourges in central France - an area with no local music scene - his artistic impulse came entirely from within.
Now a respected writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, his recent collaborators include Kirin J Callinan, Drugdealer, Weyes Blood, Goldie Boutilier, Clara Luciani, and Sub Pop’s Hannah Jagadu, whose 2023 album Aperture he fully provided and 2025 single ‘My Love’ he co-produced. After early band projects, Max is now emerging under his own name, presenting a fully formed artistic identity.
Though he loosely describes his music as alternative rock, Max Baby’s sound is anything but conventional. Guided by his synaesthesia, he builds tracks from the ground up, crafting vivid, nocturnal textures - a signature heard throughout his debut EP OUT OF CONTROL, INTO THE WALL, which was released in late 2024.
He recently showcased the single at All Points East in London, where he was invited by The Maccabees to perform on a bill that included CMAT, Black Country, New Road and The Murder Capital. Earlier this year he was one of the stand out artists to showcase at The Great Escape, hailed by NME as one of the best new acts of the festival. Elsewhere, he has opened for Franz Ferdinand and performed live on French primetime television for France Music Week x Fête de La Musique, alongside Christine and the Queens and La Femme.
