The fifth night of the Llangollen Music Eisteddfod saw the Big Top absolutely brimming with energy, emotion, and pop-rock brilliance, as Irish chart-toppers The Script headlined an unforgettable evening. But before the main event, the crowd was treated to something truly special — a powerhouse opening performance from the ever-brilliant Tom Walker.

Despite being the first act on stage, Walker played to a completely full house — a testament to his growing star power and the love fans have for his emotionally charged songwriting. His set was soulful, captivating, and full of raw vocal power. From the very first note, it was clear that he could have headlined the night himself. His performance was packed with heartfelt renditions of hits like "Leave a Light On" and "Just You and I", delivered with energy and passion that had the crowd firmly in the palm of his hand. His gravel-tinged voice, brimming with soul and vulnerability, echoed through the tent with a warmth that set the tone for an exceptional night.

Then came the main event — The Script, bringing their Satellites UK Tour to a sold-out crowd at Llangollen. Opening with the explosive "Superheroes", the band launched into a 90-minute set that was equal parts emotional and electric. They pulled out all the stops — hits like "Rain", "Six Degrees of Separation", "For the First Time", "Paint the Town Green", "The Man Who Can’t Be Moved", and "The Last Time" had the audience singing back every word, arms raised, phones aloft.

Frontman Danny O’Donoghue was, as ever, a magnetic presence. His charismatic stagecraft brought the performance to life — walking through the crowd, sharing the mic, taking selfies, and even inviting a young fan on stage to play a note on the piano and sing with him, creating a memory that will no doubt last a lifetime. His connection with the crowd was genuine, personal, and deeply felt. From massive confetti blasts to dramatic pyrotechnics, the show was as visually impressive as it was musically tight.

The band’s ability to balance old favourites with newer material from their latest album, Satellites, shows just how well they’ve evolved while staying true to their core sound. Each song was delivered with heart and polish — a reminder of why The Script remain one of the UK’s most beloved live acts.

The night concluded with a soaring three-song encore that began with the poignant "Home Is Where the Hurt Is", before launching into the fan-favourite "Breakeven", and finishing on a euphoric high with their UK number one anthem, "Hall of Fame" — a song that never fails to unite voices in the crowd.

In short, it was a night of anthem after anthem, heartfelt moments, and unforgettable performances — a festival evening that will go down as one of Llangollen’s finest.
