With a busy festival season well underway, and a trip to Tokyo and Australia in their sights, The Lathums announce their return to the North West of England with a show at Liverpool Olympia on Saturday 29th November. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 8th August, here.
Coming of age in front of thousands of witnesses, indie’s emboldened mood-enhancing force, The Lathums have quickened their stride since the release of their third album, Matter Does Not Define earlier this year and release their latest single, Cobblestones, with Australia, Japan and Singapore in their sights. Riven with a choppy Johnny Marr jangle and a dubby heart beating to distant echoes of The Clash, the summer single lands as festival stages beckon, both at home and overseas.
Announcing that their journey from their unassuming, knock-about early days in Wigan will take them to the Singapore F1 Grand Prix and on to their first ever tour dates in Australia and Japan this autumn, the thirst for live experience goes barely sated for both the band and their community of fans. Before approaching passport control for some of the furthest flung and hottest dates in their eight-year reign, The Lathums add Cobblestones to their set list options ahead of their return to the North West this November.
Never taken for granted, but five years since their breakthrough with indie playlist-staple singles, The Great Escape and Fight On, The Lathums chalk up major live milestones as near-routine having toyed with Glastonbury crowds, played to 11,500 at their Robin Park homecoming and sold out their 14-date 2025 Matter Does Not Define Tour including two dates at the O2 Apollo, Manchester. Looking to the other side of the world for their next domain the sky is clearly no limit, but before then the band returns to their third Top 5 Official UK Album Chart release, revealing the unreleased Cobblestones as one track on a four-track Matter Does Not Define Bonus EP, released on limited white label vinyl on Fri 22 August 2025.
Singer and songwriter, Alex Moore, says:
“’Cobblestones’ started when I was in my teens and started paying close attention to the world around me: the streets, the buildings, the way history leaves its mark. Where I’m from, cobblestones seem to be everywhere, and they started to feel like a symbol for the stories and truths buried under modern life. The song is about what gets covered up, not just by concrete or tarmac, but by politics, ego, and time. It's about how we build over the past and try to move on, but the past is still there, just beneath the surface.”
Living as lyrically-led indie poets side-by-side with complete normality, returning home to the outskirts of Greater Manchester once the applause has come to an end, The Lathums – made up of Moore with Scott Concepcion (guitars), Ryan ‘Duz’ Durrans (drums) and adopted Wiganer, Liverpool’s Matty Murphy (bass) -sketch out their confirmed, remaining 2025 live appearances as follows:

More than a band, The Lathums continue to bring focus to the need for high-quality arts experiences for young people who would otherwise miss out. Establishing their Chance To See Fund in partnership with North West charity, Curious Minds, the band, their fans and a range of supporters have so far raised over £25,000 to improve young people’s access to cultural experiences, including buying musical instruments, funding activities and workshops and facilitating travel to and tickets for cultural events.
