WORDS ALAN BRYCE

Back for its fourth year, In It Together 2025 proved once again why it has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most beloved festivals. Held on the lush farmland of Margam, typically home to cows but transformed into a vibrant hub of over 100,000 music lovers, this year’s edition sold out almost entirely—with only limited day tickets left by opening day.
What sets this festival apart is its inclusivity. From babies to grandparents (who enter free), In It Together truly lives up to its name—bringing together families, friends, and music fans of every age for three days of unforgettable performances and pure joy.
Friday: Party Starters and Indie Legends
The weekend launched with a bang—Vengaboys exploding onto the main stage in extravagant outfits and even bigger energy. Classics like "We’re Going to Ibiza", "Boom Boom Boom", and a party mix including "Macarena" had the crowd in full dance mode, heatwave or not.
Following them was Scotland’s Callum Bowie, a heartfelt acoustic-driven set that included crowd favourite “Get Lost.” His soothing vocals and humble presence offered a beautiful contrast to the high-octane opener.
A touching moment followed with a tribute to Amy Winehouse, featuring her original band and the emotional appearance of her mother, Jackie Winehouse. Jackie joined the stage, inviting fans to sing along to Amy’s greatest hits, closing the set with a powerful rendition of “Rehab.”
Next, The House & Garage Orchestra brought the groove, joined by guest vocalists Blue Rodriguez, Shirley Nelson, JJ Liffer, and a surprise appearance from Mis-Teeq’s Sabrina. Their brass and bass-heavy renditions of garage classics like “Sweet Like Chocolate” had the crowd vibing.
The Pigeon Detectives were the first rock band of the day, bursting on stage full of chaos and character—even sitting on the crowd barrier during a guitar mishap. Water bottles, shaken beers, and banter were flung into the VIP area as the band declared this their first festival of the year.
The crowd then roared for the surprise guest—DJ Example, who dropped club bangers like “Changed the Way You Kissed Me” and had everyone dancing like it was Ibiza.
Headliners Kaiser Chiefs delivered an anthemic finale, launching with “Every Day I Love You Less and Less”, before igniting the crowd with “I Predict a Riot” and closing (after loud chants) with “Ruby”. Over 30,000 voices sang in unison—a perfect end to day one.
Saturday: Nostalgia, Rain, and Becky Hill’s Reign
A damp start didn’t dampen spirits. Chesney Hawkes was first on the main stage, backed by his brother and son, kicking off with “Stacey’s Mom” and ending, of course, with “The One and Only.”
Up next, Grace Gachot brought emotional depth with dramatic vocals about heartbreak and resilience, contrasting perfectly with the energy that followed.
That came in the form of Sugarhill Gang, who commanded the stage with old-school hip-hop charisma, ending with their timeless anthem “Rapper’s Delight.” Shola Ama kept the R&B vibe alive with soulful renditions of her 90s hits, closing with the beautiful “You Might Need Somebody.”
Welsh rockers Himalayas fired things back up with heavy drums and blistering riffs before Pete Doherty brought his signature unpredictable charm—throwing a stuffed octopus into the crowd (and its stuffing into the air), giving his daughter a turn on drums, and dancing through a mellow, poetic set.
Replacing Bru-C was rising star D.O.D, whose set laid the groundwork for what would become a truly legendary headline performance.
The highlight of the night—possibly the entire weekend—belonged to Becky Hill. Introduced on a rising platform, lasers slicing through the night sky, Becky stormed the stage shouting “Let’s party!” and delivered a full-throttle set including “Afterglow,” “Wish You Well,” and “My Heart Goes.” She closed with “Be There For You”, bringing her mum out for a touching moment, leaving the crowd buzzing and breathless.
Sunday: Final Surprises and a Sentimental Send-Off
With the sun back and a bit of weariness in the air, day three kicked off with energy courtesy of So Solid Crew. Their genre-blending hits and stage presence got everyone moving again, ending with “21 Seconds.”
FEET, a lively 5-piece alt-rock band, followed with infectious energy and growing fan support, while 80s heartthrob Jason Donovan sent the crowd—particularly the housewives—into a nostalgic frenzy. “Especially for You” was met with screams, and his finale “Set Me Free” proved he’s still got it.
The Hoosiers, clad in quirky white suits, had the crowd bouncing to “Worried About Ray” and a surprising cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, even teasing new music from their upcoming sixth album.
Then came the flamboyant and high-energy Daniel Bedingfield, still healing from a wisdom tooth removal but not letting that stop him. His performance of “Gotta Get Thru This” was electric.
The day’s biggest surprise? Welsh treasure Ruth Jones (Nessa) shouting “Oh, what’s occurring!” before introducing a jaw-dropping guest: Keala Settle, of The Greatest Showman fame. Dressed in glitter and radiating star power, she stunned with “This Is Me,” earning the biggest roar of the weekend and sending shivers through the crowd.
James Morriston followed with a heartfelt set, charming especially the female fans, before the final act of the weekend: Ronan Keating.
With a catalogue spanning solo and Boyzone hits, Ronan worked through “Loving Each Day,” “Father and Son,” and closed with “Life is a Rollercoaster.” His charm and command left no one untouched, as the entire audience moved and sang in perfect harmony.
Until Next Year…
In It Together 2025 was nothing short of a triumph—sun, rain, and surprises all part of the journey. With its blend of nostalgia, new talent, big names, and true community spirit, the festival delivered unforgettable memories for all ages. No surprise then, that early bird tickets for 2026 sold out within days.
From start to finish, this was a festival made with heart—for everyone. And it just keeps getting bigger, better, and more magical every year.
